Who Are Southwest Axolotls?

So i guess its time that we really introduced ourselves.

Southwest Axolotls is run by two friends with a passion to care for these weird yet wonderful creatures.

We both have Axolotls as pets (11 in total) not to mention the Fish, rabbits, dogs and birds we also have between us, you don't need to tell us were mad, we already know.

Southwest Axolotls came about when Raveca came to adopt two of my (Lana) Axolotls, now named Axel and Rose. We instantly began a friendship. Early on there were talks of us maybe starting up an aquatics centre but with me having disabilities this wasn't really practical so the idea went to the back of our minds.

However it wasn't long before we found ourselves offering people care advise, taking in rescue and surrendered axolotls and we even had a surprise clutch of eggs. It was at that moment that Southwest Axolotls was born without us really even thinking about it, it happened naturally and that's when we began to think " hey we could really make a difference here"

So What Do We Do?

2021 is going to bring with it some huge changes and big adventures for us, as we are planning to expand on the services that we already offer. So at the moment, we rescue Axolotls who can no longer be cared for by their owners, or who have been neglected and need some TLC. We will also rescue Axolotls from pet stores whose care is below standard and provide them with a care sheet as to how to best care for Axolotls in the future. Many people think that because we often have babies available to adopt, that we are breeders, this isn't necessarily the case. Our Axolotls are our pets so they will not be bred, instead we rescue unwanted eggs or obtain them from a reputable breeder we use, with plenty of background information. So we don't actually breed Axolotls. We offer lifelong advice to those who adopt an Axolotl from u, and even if you haven't adopted from us we are always happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

We mentioned big changes coming in 2021 and these changes include, this brand new website which is still a work in progress, a one stop shop for Axolotl related products, so that you can get everything you need in one place. The shop will be added to this website in due course. We are also now offering Axolotl starter kits to anyone who adopts an Axolotl from us, which includes many necessary foods and equipment you will need when owning an Axolotl. The started pack can also be purchased if you haven't adopted from us, just send us a message for some more information. So that's just a snippet of whats to come this year.

So yeah that's us :) two friends trying to make a difference and offer advice to as many Axolotl owners we can so that these amazing creatures receive nothing but the best care possible.
